Bruce Henderson Wheatley

Our loving husband and father passed away July 29, 2023 surrounded by his family. Bruce was born February 1, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho to Wayne and Marie Wheatley. He grew up in
Robin, ID with his 6 brothers and 2 sisters on the family farm.

He attended Marsh Valley High School where he played football, basketball, and ran track. There he met the love of his life and most beautiful and talented cheerleader at MV High, Darlene Price. He attended Utah State University after which he married his high school sweetheart on September 14th 1960, in the Logan LDS Temple.

In their early years of marriage, he worked for the State of Idaho helping build I15 between McCammon and Inkom. They later owned a dairy where he and mom worked hard to provide for their family. He farmed all his life in Robin, Arbon, and other areas in the valley, and worked 29 yrs for Bannock County Road and Bridge, as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was dedicated and loved serving in Bishoprics and Stake callings. He had a deep love for those he served, and was a dedicated servant to the Lord. Dad will always be remembered for his relentless teasing, outstanding example, talented farming capabilities, hard work, making sure snowy roads and driveways were plowed, and his love for friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who stole his heart!

He is survived by his wife Darlene Wheatley of 62 years, and his 7 children, Farrell (Polly) Wheatley, Jerome, ID; Sonja (Dave) Belnap, Pocatello, ID; Troy (Selena) Wheatley, Pocatello, ID; Janalee (Mike) Henderson, Boise, ID; Dwan Wheatley, Pocatello, ID; Terra (Dustin) Mark, Inkom, ID; and Kyle (Melanie) Wheatley, Robin, ID, 25 Grandchildren and 32 Great Grandchildren, 5 brothers and 2 sisters; Byron (Marilyn) Wheatley, Idaho Falls, ID, Steve (Bonnie) Wheatley, Robin, ID, Richard (Patty) Wheatley, Pocatello, ID, Marshall (Tammie) Wheatley, Blackfoot, ID, Ralph (Vauna) Wheatley, McCammon, ID, Karen (Tab) Mendenhall, Pocatello, ID, and Annette (Kirk) Christensen, McCammon, ID. He is proceeded in death by his father and mother, Wayne and Marie Wheatley, brother Douglas Wheatley, granddaughter Cindy Belnap, grandson Kelby Benson, great grandson Gunner Wheatley, and great granddaughter Faith Wheatley. Nephew Dallin Wheatley, and nieces Natalie Hall Gunter and Sadie Christensen Lish.

Services will be held Saturday August 5th at 12 noon, in the Arimo Stake Center, 286 Henderson Rd, Arimo ID 83214. Friends may visit family during the viewing on Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Saturday prior to services from 11:00 - 12:00. Burial will follow at the Robin Cemetery.
